Debbie Gonzalez

Debbie Gonzalez is a fearless supporter and believer in human rights and equality. Her life’s journey has paved the way for her passion in this field. After coming out at the age of 22 and being alienated by her family she found herself in an unfamiliar place of loneliness and despair.  She devoted her time and attention to the studies of Art History. Her love for the arts welcomed her into many design oriented positions where she climbed her way to her current position as Senior Design Director for a men’s furnishings company.

After years of conflict, Debbie finally found a way to reconcile with her family only to lose them a few years later.  The loss of her parents brought her back to her core values, where she was drawn to the code of service she was raised by. She created and co-founded R.A.K. clothing (an acronym for Random Acts of Kindness).  RAK was founded on the sincere belief that one person can make difference.   Keeping in line with her core values she sat on the board of directors of Pridelines Youth Services, where she felt she could relate to the alienated gay youth of South Florida.  After a few years of working with the gay community she joined The National Gay and Lesbian Task Force as active volunteer, sitting on the steering committee for the Miami Recognition Dinner & Winter Party Festival. Debbie’s latest project entails co-producing and promoting a gay friendly comedy tour - “Fruit Cocktail”. With this ambition and drive Debbie Gonzalez continues to achieve success and raise awareness and funds for her beliefs and community.
